Aussie Coming-Of-Age Film 6 Festivals Announces Rocking New Cast.
Coming Soon to Paramount+.

ViacomCBS Australia & New Zealand is delighted to announce the rising stars of coming-of-age drama 6 Festivals, the first locally commissioned feature film set to air on its global digital subscription video streaming service, Paramount+.

Written and directed by award-winning director and producer Macario de Souza (Bra Boys, Fighting Fear), 6 Festivals tells the story of three best friends Maxie, Summer and James as they bucket-list six music festivals over six months, whilst coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis.

In the role of Summer, is 21-year-old Yasmin Honeychurch, who had early success in the YouTube series The Life of Jess, before being cast in the Disney feature film Back of the Net. Joining her are Rory Potter, as James, who cut his teeth in the theatre production of The Secret River, followed by the feature film The Dressmaker; professional surfer Rasmus King, as Maxie, who starred alongside Luke Hemsworth and Isabel Lucas in Bosch and Rockit; and introducing poet, model, and recording artist Guyala Bayles, who plays Marley, an up-and-coming musician in the film.

With filming having commenced earlier this year at musical festivals across Wollongong and the Sunshine Coast, 6 Festivals will also rock a soundtrack of some of the hottest Australian music acts, some of whom will feature in cameo appearances (as themselves), including G Flip, Dune Rats, Alison Wonderland, Bliss n Eso, Peking Duk, PNAU, Example, Hooligan Hefs, The Amity Affliction, JessB, B Wise and Running Touch.

Daniel Monaghan, SVP Content & Programming is excited about the prospect of 6 Festivals becoming a film synonymous with youth culture for years to come.

Daniel said: “Music festivals are a rite of passage for many young Australians. And we are thrilled that Paramount+ will be showcasing a uniquely Australian story set within this captivating world and told through the eyes of our next generation of storytellers”.

For writer and director Macario de Souza, making 6 Festivals is the realisation of his childhood and professional experiences to date.

Macario said: “Music festivals have had a profound impact on my life. Having myself performed on festival stages in Australia and around the world as artist Kid Mac, I feel I am in a very unique position to make a film that is authentically representative of our youth and music culture.”

6 Festivals has received major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Paramount+. Financed with support from Sony Music, with Boom Smash, Screen Canberra and Screen Queensland.

6 Festivals joins a host of Australian originals coming to Paramount+ including Five Bedrooms, Spreadsheet, and Last King Of The Cross.

Paramount+ will debut in Australia on Wednesday, August 11. Priced at $8.99 per month, Paramount+ subscribers will have access to more than 20,000 hours of content throughout the year delighting Australian audiences with unique stories, iconic stars and a mountain of entertainment including a robust offering of premier local content.
